Hi, I’m Karin — the maker, dreamer & hands behind Black Bird Nook

It all started as a hobby. I began creating wire-wrapped name signs for my toddler’s room & then a few more for her little friends. What started as a playful side project, quickly turned into something more: a true creative passion.  

Today, I specialise in bespoke keepsakes made from bent wire wrapped in soft knitted i-cord tubular, spelling out names, words or whimsical shapes that bring warmth and charm to children's bedrooms & nurseries.

Each piece is handmade with care, customisable and created slowly and thoughtfully from my little nook in Melbourne (Australia). Whether you’re decorating a nursery, celebrating a newborn or gifting something unique and heartfelt, I’d be honoured to be part of your story.

The name Black Bird Nook came to me while I was looking through baby photos of my daughter.
She was born with a full head of thick, dark hair that stood straight up at the top, like a little crest - instantly reminding me of a little black cockatoo.

The name Black Bird Nook is heartfelt tribute to my beautiful, creative and one-of-a-kind Lyla.
